Visitor,

Sardine Can Collective is our former name and how we were first introduced to the lit mag scene.

So we’ve made this tab to commemorate it.

The archive consists of five small issues (four Cans and Love Letters) and our first major issue, Bruised Knees and Gardenias.

Though we don’t do issues anymore, but rather one long year of collecting, we still like to keep these issues around as a remembrance of things past, if it’s even that deep.

xoxo,

Fish Girl

Staff from Sardine Can:

Natalia- Poetry Editor: Natalia (or Talia) is a young writer, poet, and aspiring filmmaker. She enjoys watching or reading about themes of coming of age, sapphic love, and any weird and whimsical horror. When she is not writing or consuming media, you can find her working at the library or haunting a thrift store. As a poetry editor, she hopes to highlight unique voices and help the fish girls thrive.

Alexa Johnson- Prose Editor: Alexa is a writer, multimedia artist, and musician. She has previously been published or has upcoming work in Underbelly Press, Flare Magazine, Glut Press, and more. When she's not writing, she can most often be found working as a graphic designer and listening to obscure rock music. She is looking forward to diving into whatever delicious and eccentric prose submissions the fish girls have to offer.

Sophia Ma- Poetry Editor: Sophia Ma is a high school senior based in Southern California. An alum of the Iowa Young Writers’ Studio, their work is featured or forthcoming in Vagabond City Lit, Différance Magazine, and more. Read more from them in their coming of age novella One Star in a Jar. When not writing, Sophia can be found on their secret Better Call Saul fanart account or scouting out surrealist films.

Chloe Hunt- Graphic Design: Chloe is an artist, graphic designer, and aspiring graphic novelist. Currently, she is into everything medieval, vampiric, and fish girl. In their spare time, you can usually find them on Wikipedia deep-dives or crocheting. She hopes to continue breathing life into the visuals of Sardine Can Collective.

Carmen Burnasky- Art Editor: Carmen is an aspiring artist of all sorts, pursuing whatever interest suits her. She spends most of her time reading, listening to music or watching films, all which provide inspiration for creating artwork or poetry of her own. When not entertaining herself with some form of media, she is either passing time with family or engaging in well needed rest. Ultimately, she hopes to add and benefit the artistic aspect of the Sardine Can Collective.

Ellie Pierson- Prose Editor: Ellie Pierson is a writer, overall creative mind, and chronic theatre enjoyer. Her work has been published in HamLit Journal, Jeopardy Magazine, and soon Field Wren Journal. Her story The Force of the Flood has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize. When her fingers aren't at the keyboard, her toes are in the sand waiting to be turned into sea foam.
