Seasick / Landlocked ~ Abbie Odell

My surfaceless tongue fights for a way
Through sea of salt / yet tasteless
I reject solidity
Swim away / mirthless days
Water between my ears
Where god should be

Flesh & soul
I am oil among water
Soiled / outlined in lace
Same shirt I wore yesterday
In bed I lie deep
Listen to my keening
Ripple through the sea

I wade to shore
Find first stability against the wind
Everything can be replaced
Where my hand meets the east
Separate from my brain
I dive to sovereignty
